What is Trystan’s Backyard Ultra?
Trystan’s Backyard Ultra is Prairie du Chien’s first-ever Backyard Ultra–style race. It’s a unique endurance event where runners complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour, on the hour. The twist? You keep going until only one runner remains.
This race is about consistency, mental grit, and community — not speed. Whether you're aiming to be the Last One Standing or just want to push your limits, you're part of something special.
Two Ways to Join:
Everyone has a place at the start line.
Hey, I’m Trystan Nesvold — I’m 19 years old and from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. A couple of years ago, I had a life-changing tumor removal surgery, and everything shifted after that. Running became a huge part of my recovery — not just physically, but mentally too. I have now become a year-round Ultra runner.
In September 2024, my childhood best friend Creighton got into a swimming accident, causing him to become paralyzed from the chest down. Creighton spent September through March in multiple hospitals trying to recover and live a normal life.
Creighton has been a huge inspiration for me in my ultra running career. I keep him in the back of my mind in every race to remember that I have to be "Grateful to be Able" and that I am doing it for him and not just for myself. My goal for this race is to donate all profit money from this race to Creighton and his family and to also donate and raise money for Paralysis Research.
